Pot Top vs. Pot Strainer
Posted by Nicki on 11/24/2011
Happy Thanksgiving to all! If you’re reading this today, somebody else is cooking your bird or you are extremely organized and ahead of the game that Martha Stewart would weep. My hat’s off to you! Today we’re going to talk about pot strainers. My style of cooking lately is a lot of “broil and boil”. It’s really steaming but it doesn’t rhyme with broil. Broil a chop or a chicken breast in the toaster oven and steam some broccoli. I should be rail thin with this diet, right? I digress, sorry. Draining the water from the pot can be tricky. Holding the knob of the pot’s top to contain the veggies while pouring the liquid can result in fogged up glasses, frizzed hair-do, melted makeup, mini facial, steam burns and half the veggies escaping into the sink. The pot strainer helps avoid most of these hazards. The whole thing is silicone so it won’t get hot enough to hurt you. The handle is on the side so your arm is out of the way of the steam pouring out. The veggies don’t get caught in it and stuck there to be scrubbed off later. It goes right in the dishwasher for cleaning. Cool, huh? Think about all those green bean casseroles you have to cook for the holiday dinners coming up. You need one of these! Give one to a friend in the holiday grab bag. They’ll thank you!
