The
spoon rest serves 2 purposes in the kitchen:
they protect surfaces from dripping liquids and decorate the
kitchen. Here’s the thing: do you want
to wipe off the counter or wash the spoon rest?
You have to wipe the counter anyway to remove splatters, flying debris
from chopping, slurps for enthusiastic stirring, etc. Why add another dish to wash? It’s another thing in the dishwasher taking up
valuable space that could be used by something else. We sell spoon rests for
those you really like their decorative quality and that’s great. God bless!
But for my way of thinking a pot clip is way more practical but not at
all decorative. You clip the clip to the
side of the pot so it’s always ready to do its job. You throw it in the drawer when you’re done. It, too, can go in the dishwasher but it’s
way smaller than any spoon rest taking up less room. Spoon rests are a more thoughtful gift than a
pot clip. The giver is thinking more
about the recipient: color of the
kitchen, favorite motif, clever sayings.
The pot clip is none of that. The
extremely practical cook who stands for no nonsense in the kitchen will
probably like the clip more. So pick your poison, spoon rest or pot clip. You decide!
